Another JJ Abrams’ production, after the tremendous success of Star Trek franchise, ‘Fringe’ is under financial strain. Thus, it has been decided to move back to Vancouver, Canada from Long Island City’s Silvercup Studios. It’d be the second swing as series was previously relocated from Toronto to New York. The first move was made to take advantage of the New York City’s film and TV incentives, but as of now, things are getting off-center financially making the creators to return to the origin country however the locations would be Vancouver, instead of Toronto, this time.
All episodes of the first season of Fringe are shot in the New York itself and the second season, if it ever comes, would be shot in Canada. The possibility of second season is lost in the dark and if things would not go well, Fringe would never return with the second season. Situation is such that the project has run out of money and the Governor David Paterson has no wishes to reinvest. So, ultimately, parting from the serene locations of New York, its back in Canada, latest news from Warner Bros “In this challenging and uncertain economic environment, we have made the very difficult decision to move the production of Fringe from New York to Canada in the event the series is renewed for a second season”.
As of now, Fox Network has not made any official decision to bring ‘Fringe’ back for a second season so uncertainty is here! Hopefully, everything would be sorted out and we’ll soon get news about Fringe’s second season.
A pretty interesting fact about Fringe: It was first shot in Toronto, then it was shot in New York and now it’d be moving to Vancouver. All of these cities have nothing to do with the plotline of the series. In fact, all events are set in Boston, the city where Fringe is never shot.
Anyways, all of the Fringe episodes are available to download here. Enjoy these until I return to tell you that Fringe is back with second season, hopefully!
